Consentic explains the procedure. Coviu gets every appointment ready.
Consentic is a specialist tool for one high-stakes moment: explaining a procedure and recording informed consent. Many practices also use it for registration and routine forms. That's the part Coviu is built for: the right forms for every appointment type, reminders until they're done, and answers written into your PMS. Coviu handles forms patients complete themselves, not hospital paperwork.
What is Coviu?
Coviu started as an Australian telehealth platform. Today it also handles the paperwork before each appointment: sending patients the forms their appointment type needs, chasing what's missing and writing the answers into your PMS. It sits beside your practice management software, and one tracking board shows your team what is still to come back.
Telehealth runs from the same patient link as the forms, and payments are coming soon. Works with Gentu, Halaxy, MediRecords, Cliniko and Nookal, with no app or login for patients.
What is Consentic?
Consentic is an Australian digital consent platform, founded by doctors in 2018. Its core is informed medical consent: peer-reviewed animated explanations of a procedure, questions that check the patient understood, electronic signing and a secure record of consent. Consentic says its approach is proven in two randomised controlled trials to improve patient knowledge and satisfaction, and that it facilitates one informed consent in Australia every three minutes.
It is used by proceduralists such as gastroenterologists and dermatologists, and by hospitals and clinical trials. Alongside consent, Consentic offers patient registration, digital forms and surveys, reminders and an admin dashboard for tracking completion.
This comparison is based on publicly available information and conversations with specialist practices, as at 28 September 2026. If you represent Consentic and believe anything here needs correcting, please contact us.
How moving your forms from Consentic works
Start with your registration and assignment of benefit forms. When patients finish, their answers go into your PMS.
Bring your patient forms
Send us the forms your patients complete in Consentic today. We set them up with you.
Connect your PMS and choose your forms
Link Coviu to your practice management software, then choose which forms each appointment type needs and when they go out.
Start with one appointment type
Patients get one link and complete it on their phone. Their answers are written into your PMS, so there's nothing to retype. Add more appointment types as you go.
Why specialist practices choose Coviu
What changes when Coviu takes on the work around your forms.
The right forms go out by themselves
Set which forms each appointment type needs, and when: on booking, days ahead or the morning of. Coviu reads your appointment book and sends them.
✓ One link per patient, no app or login
✓ Your forms, your workflows, set up for your practice
The chasing runs itself
Patients who haven’t finished get reminders on the schedule you set. Once they’re done, the reminders stop.
✓ You set the timing
✓ Resend a link any time, even while the patient is on the phone
Answers go into your PMS, not an inbox
Registration and demographic details write into the patient record field by field, and the full form saves to their file. Nobody downloads, uploads or retypes it.
✓ You choose per form: straight in, or a quick approve
✓ Works with Gentu, Halaxy, MediRecords, Cliniko and Nookal
One tracking board for every appointment
See every upcoming appointment across the week: what has been sent, what has come back and what is overdue.
✓ Know what needs attention, before it becomes a problem
✓ See who is ready before the day starts
Which suits your practice?
Choose Consentic
Best for proceduralists, hospitals and clinical trials where the job is explaining a procedure and recording informed consent.
Consentic shows the patient a peer-reviewed animation of what will happen, asks questions to check they understood and records their consent. Consentic says two randomised trials show its approach improves what patients know about their procedure. It also handles consent completed in hospital or with a clinician, and forms that move between doctors and hospitals.
Ideal for: proceduralists, hospitals and clinical trials that need a specialist tool for informed consent.
Choose Coviu
Best for specialist practices where the job is getting every appointment ready.
Most paperwork before a specialist appointment isn't about explaining a procedure. It is registration, medical history, scored questionnaires, routine consent and assignment of benefit, for every patient, every time.
Coviu is only for forms your patients complete themselves. It doesn’t handle hospital paperwork or forms that pass between clinicians and hospitals.
Ideal for: specialist practices on Gentu, Halaxy, MediRecords, Cliniko or Nookal that use Consentic mainly for registration and forms.
Use both
If your clinicians rely on Consentic’s procedure animations, hospital consent or clinician-to-hospital forms, keep it for that. Move the forms your patients complete themselves before their appointment to Coviu.
Ideal for: proceduralists who need informed consent and want registration and assignment of benefit off the front desk.
